Under the flagship of Digital India initiative, the Government of India has launched another revolutionary service called ehospital, whereby, rather than standing in queues in Government and Private hospitals to get your Out-Patient Department (OPD) slips, you can now register online and get an appointment in a particular hospital with a particular medical specialization department. Thanks to the Online Registration System (ORS).
What is Online Registration System (ORS)?
Online Registration System (ORS) is a platform with an aim of linking maximum hospitals (Government as well as Private) throughout the country enabling online account registration and generating appointment based on Aadhar card through Hospital Management Information System (HMIS). ORS Portal is designed to facilitate online medical appointments with nearly all departments of ORS registered hospitals using the patient details as registered in the Aadhar database which should have been linked with the user’s active mobile number.
In case, the mobile number is not registered with Aadhar, the patient’s Unique Health Identification number is generated for future use.
Features of Online Registration System:
- Simplified Appointment Procedure: Unlike previous times, when visiting a doctor was a tedious task requiring standing in queues for getting OPS slips, ORS has made the process simpler where you need to create an ORS account, choose concerned hospital and respective department, choose date of appointment and received appointment confirmation on registered mobile via SMS.
- Online Lab & Diagnostic Reports: The system enables the patients to check their lab reports online for the regsitered hospitals.
- Blood Bank Blood Availability: Blood seekers can easily get the details of blood units available in a particular registered Blood Bank through the system.
- Easy Registration process for Hospitals: The hospitals can easily join the system and can manage their patient inflow also facilitating the patients to book an online appointment.
What is needed to create an ORS Account?
To Sign up for an ORS account, all you need is a Laptop/PC or a smartphone with an internet connection alongwith a functional mobile number. Aadhar card number, if available is an additional advantage.

Steps to book an Online Appointment via ORS:
- Visit the Appointment Registration page of Online Registration System.
- Follow the steps as given below to book your appointment.
The received confirmation SMS will contain your Appointment number which can be presented to the doctors of the respective department of the hospital where you have sought an appointment.
Following the state-wise list of Hospitals, Regional Health Centres & PHCs which are registered with ORS & offer a facility of Online appointment booking.
